For sixteen year old Rose, her family moving from Chicago to a small town in Colorado is the worst thing that can happen. She's not like other sixteen year olds and the the city life was the life she wanted. She's the type to read books instead of going out, and she can't imagine life in Bloomfield Valley, surrounded by mountains no matter how much her parents tell her they are moving to find a better life.
Right from the start, there's something weird about Bloomfield. Rose feels it right away. Her weird neighbor across the street seems to be watching her all the time, even at night with binoculars into her bedroom window. Although the people seem friendly, there's something lurking behind the smiles that Rose knows is dark and twisted. No one believes here, not her parents and not Jake, the friendly pizza delivery boy she just might have a crush on.
But Rose is not like other sixteen year olds. She is determined the find out the terrifying, horrible, secret of Bloomfield. She has to get into the weird locked room in the library, and finally check out the strange church that only allows those invited to attend.
Something is very wrong with Bloomfield. A town with a secret that stretches back decades, to the final days of World War Two. Rose is determined to find out what it is, but will she and her family be able to survive the horror of what they learn.
