Hi everyone!!! So I am Nimph, aka Elli, I review fantasy books on Instagram, Twitter, GoodReads etc, I am part of the blog team for SFFInsiders! Fantasy is my first love but I do dip my toes elsewhere ;)
Empire of Dirt by Philip C. Quaintrell
Worldbuilding: Aided the story
Plot: Straightforward Characters: Roles are clear
Storytelling: Descriptive
Immersion: Didn’t want to put the book down Emotional Response: Strong emotions
Thought Provoking: Did some research after reading
Cover: Matches the story well For a lone ranger, Asher sure has made a lot of friends. Empire of Dirt is a huge step up from Rise of the Ranger, and so far has been an incredibly fun read. You see “if we stand aside, you and your master would have Verda become an empire of dirt.” |
A Cup of Tea at the Mouth of Hell (Or, An Account of Catastrophe by Stoudemire McCloud, Demon) by Luke Tarzian
Worldbuilding: Piqued curiosity
Plot: Mostly clear Characters: Roles are clear
Storytelling: Descriptive
Immersion: Didn’t want to put the book down Emotional Response: Strong emotions
Thought Provoking: Did some research after reading
Cover: Matches the story well I want to start by saying that it feels odd to be praising such an emotional, raw and vulnerable journey, but I must say, this was a fantastic and very real read. This is 62 pages that will live rent free in my thought-cage for a long time. |
